William Shakespeare was a great writer. He was born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England . His father was called John and his mother Mary Arden.
William grew up in a modest family .As a boy,he was calm and never shared his brothers' games. At school he was brilliant , but his father asked him to leave school and work with him in the lands . In 1582 he married Ann Hathaway who was ten years older than him . They had four children ; two of them died very young .
In 1586 he went to London and worked in a theatre . He wrote all his plays between 1590 and 1610. Shakespeare's most famous books are : « Romeo and Juliet », « Hamlet » and « Macbeth ». He died in 1616.
